June 30, 2020, marked a significant day in the attempted murder case of DJ Evolve, as the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, revealed that the victim's inability to record a statement has slowed down the prosecution of Embakasi MP Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino.
The DPP cited the victim's paralysis and speech impediment as the reasons for the delay, stating that it was unwise to take his statement at the time of the incident.
According to the DPP, the investigating officer had diligently followed up on the case, but found DJ Evolve in pain and overwhelmed, making it challenging to record his statement.
NTV aired an exclusive piece in which a bedridden DJ Evolve narrated his slow recovery process after he was allegedly shot by the MP six months ago.
During the interview, DJ Evolve struggled with his speech as he narrated how his life took a different turn after the January 17, 2020 incident.
He is currently being taken care of at home by his mother and a team of nurses, after spending six months in hospital and being discharged last month.
Following the incident, which was captured on CCTV, Owino was arrested and charged in court with the attempted murder, and later released on a Sh10 million bail.
