COTU Boss Francis Atwoli Denies Hospitalization Claims ¶
On July 1, 2020, reports emerged on social media claiming that Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli had been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19.
However, in a Twitter post, Atwoli dismissed the claims, stating that he was in good health and had not been admitted to any hospital.
Atwoli emphasized that he was currently busy attending meetings online and urged people to avoid sharing fake news.
"Let’s avoid sharing fake news. Considering I am a person of interest, I will make it public if I were to get hospitalized. It’s God, the one God I pray to, who takes care of me," Atwoli said.
The country's biggest trade union also reiterated its boss was in good health and had been busy attending meetings online.
"Avoid the fake news making rounds that our Secretary General Bro Francis Atwoli has been hospitalised. The SG is in good health and has been busy attending meetings and online engagements aimed at cushioning workers from the economic shock of COVID," COTU added.
