Covid-19: South Sudan Cases Surpass 2,000

On July 1, 2020, the South Sudan Ministry of Health announced an additional 18 confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 2,007.

The cases were identified from 95 samples tested by the Public Health Laboratory.

According to the Ministry, the country also recorded one new death, increasing the total number of fatalities to 38.

Dr. Richard Laku, the Covid-19 Incident Manager, stated that the number of patients recovered from the virus increased to 279, with 594 contacts of the confirmed cases being traced by the Covid-19 Rapid Responsive team.

Dr. Laku urged citizens to adhere to measures to contain the virus, including social distancing and strict hygiene practices.
