On July 1, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi as a Kenyan woman, Mary Kwamboka Onyancha, claimed that Chief Justice David Maraga is the father of her six-year-old child.
According to Onyancha, she met CJ Maraga in 2013 at a church function and they began a romantic relationship. She claims that she got pregnant and gave birth to Maraga's daughter in 2014.
However, Onyancha alleges that Maraga cut off his support for the child in January this year, prompting her to report the matter to the Makadara children's department. She claims that Maraga has refused to honor summons and has frustrated her attempts to file a child maintenance suit in court.
