ODM leader Raila Odinga's health condition has been a subject of speculation in recent days, but his family has now provided an update on his status.
According to his wife Ida Odinga, Raila underwent surgery in Dubai last week to treat a mild nerve disorder affecting one of his legs.
Although the operation was successful, Ida revealed that Raila will remain in Dubai for a couple of weeks to ensure he fully recovers.
Speaking to The Standard, Ida clarified that Raila's condition is not as serious as some people have alleged, and that he has been successfully treated at the International Hospital in Dubai, which is run by Germans.
Ida also addressed the issue of Raila's return to Kenya, stating that they will have to charter a plane due to the current lack of commercial flights.
She urged Kenyans to treat rumors about Raila's health with contempt and abhorrence, saying it's not right to speculate on someone's health.
It's worth noting that Raila's brother Oburu Odinga had earlier downplayed the seriousness of Raila's condition, stating that he only underwent minor back surgery.
