On July 1, 2020, a woman named Mary Kwamboka Onyancha caused a stir at the Milimani Law Courts by claiming that Chief Justice David Maraga was the father of her 6-year-old daughter.
However, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, Maraga has responded to the allegations, stating that he does not know the woman and did not sire the child.
Omari noted that the documents presented by Onyancha, including the child's birth certificate, were fake and did not warrant a response.
He added that Onyancha only presented the papers in court for assessment but did not file a child support case after she was unable to pay the filing fee as required.
Omari stated, 'That birth certificate is generated, it is not a document to be relied on.' He also warned that if the allegations were aimed at assassinating Maraga's character, the Chief Justice would seek justice through the relevant authorities.
Onyancha, on the other hand, claimed that she had been in a romantic relationship with Maraga since 2013 and gave birth to his daughter in 2014. She alleged that Maraga had stopped supporting her in January this year and had frustrated her attempts to file a child maintenance suit in court.
