Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's health has been shrouded in mystery since he left the country last week for treatment.

According to multiple sources, Raila's close relatives, including his brother Oburu Oginga and wife Ida Odinga, have given conflicting accounts of his condition.

Dr. Oburu Oginga initially stated that Raila had undergone a successful back surgery, but his wife Ida later refuted the claims, sparking speculation about the true nature of Raila's health issue.

Ida Odinga revealed that Raila was being treated for a mild nerve disorder affecting one leg at a hospital in Dubai, and urged people to treat such rumors with contempt.

Meanwhile, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho sought to allay fears about Raila's health, stating that he had spoken to the former Prime Minister and that he was doing well after the procedure.

“Jakom (Raila) is out of the country for a minor surgical operation on his back. It is not a serious health issue, but just a minor one. So, he’s okay,” Dr. Oginga said last week.

“Treat such rumours with utmost contempt and abhorrence. It’s not right to speculate on someone’s health,” Ida Odinga told The Standard.
