On June 30, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law the 2020/21 Budget, the 2020 Finance Bill, and the 2019/20 Third Supplementary Budget, committing the government to ensuring Kenyans receive crucial services despite the coronavirus challenge.

The 2020 Finance Bill had undergone several amendments to address the pandemic's challenges, including extending zero-rating VAT on Unga for six months and tax relief on cooking gas for one year.

As part of the 2019/20 supplementary budget of KSh184.4 billion, KSh5 billion was allocated to county governments to prepare for the pandemic by setting up isolation centers and equipping hospitals.

Additionally, KSh3.4 billion was set aside for COVID-19 allowances to frontline health workers.

President Kenyatta also commended the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) team for their progress in implementing directives given to the agency since its launch on March 18, 2020.
