June 30, 2020, marks a significant day in the world's fight against COVID-19, as reports of a new strain of swine flu in China have surfaced. Actress Sonam Kapoor, who has firsthand experience with the virus, has spoken out about her ordeal.
As seen in the image below, Sonam took to her Instagram story to share her thoughts on the new flu strain, which has the potential to become a pandemic. She expressed her hope that the reports are not true and shared her experience of contracting swine flu in 2015.
At the time, Sonam was about to begin filming the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo in Gujarat. Unfortunately, she contracted the disease from her trainer. In her Instagram story, Sonam wrote, 'I've had a version of the swine flu...I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's one of the most difficult things I've gone through. I hope this isn't true.'
According to scientists, the new strain of flu identified in China is carried by pigs and can infect humans. While it is not an immediate problem, it has all the hallmarks of being highly adapted to infect humans and requires close monitoring. The new flu strain is similar to the 2009 swine flu but with some new changes.
