Former President Mwai Kibaki's aide, Ngari Gituku, has come out to deny claims that the former head of state was hospitalized for 10 days.
Gituku stated that Kibaki visited the Nairobi hospital for a routine medical check-up and was cleared to return home.
Gituku criticized some media outlets for spreading unverified information to the public.
"It's time for Kenyans to stop spreading rumors about individuals' personal health issues. It's a lie to say Kibaki has been hospitalized for 10 days," Gituku said.
"It's common for anyone to visit a hospital for a medical check-up, just like former President Kibaki did. Other information should be verified before being shared," he added.
These claims come after a report by The Star claimed that Kibaki was hospitalized for 10 days.
Since leaving office, Kibaki has kept a low profile and has been rarely seen in public, with some speculating about his health.
