June 30, 2020 - A woman's dramatic appearance at the Milimani law court, wailing and accusing Chief Justice David Maraga of not taking care of their six-year-old daughter, has been dismissed by the CJ as a baseless claim.

The woman, who claimed to be the mother of the child, was demanding over Ksh.160,000 in child support payment from the CJ, citing an extra-marital affair.

However, the CJ's lawyer, Danstan Omar, dismissed the allegations, stating that the birth certificate presented by the woman was 'generated' and not a reliable document.

According to Omar, the case had not been filed before the court, and the woman had only presented the papers for assessment but was unable to pay the filing fee.

He further stated that they would write to the DPP, DCI, and all relevant agents to investigate the issue, adding that if the allegations were aimed at assassinating the CJ's character, they would call on the DPP and relevant arms of government to get to the root of the fraud.

Another lawyer for the CJ, Anita Masakhi, questioned the authenticity of the birth certificate, stating that they were not sure if the sure existed, adding that the name of the mother did not exist before the registrar of birth.
