The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force has completed its assignment and is now ready to submit its comprehensive report to the government.
According to a press statement released on June 30, 2020, the task force has successfully conducted validation of the Task Force Report on Building Bridges to a United Kenya through consultations with citizens, civil society, faith-based organizations, cultural leaders, the private sector, and experts.
The task force, comprising 14 members appointed through a gazette notice No 264 dated January 10, 2020, was tasked with conducting the validation of the task force report and proposing administrative, policy, statutory, or constitutional changes necessary for its implementation.
The task force has communicated the completion of the assignment to the Executive Office of the President and is now prepared to submit its comprehensive advice to the government in line with the indicated times and venues, subject to the ongoing COVID-19 regulations.
The Joint Secretaries of the task force, Ambassador Martin Kimani and Mr. Paul Mwangi, urged members of the press and the public to beware of false reports circulating claiming to offer definitive information on the BBI outcomes.
They advised the public to get in touch with the Joint Secretaries to confirm the veracity of reports, letters, and press releases claiming to be from the Steering Committee.
