On June 30, 2020, Safaricom announced the appointment of Ilanna Darcy as its new Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in an interim capacity, effective July 1, 2020.

Ilanna Darcy, who has over 20 years of experience, takes over from Sateesh Kamath, who was promoted to the Vodafone Business CFO position.

As the head of investor relations, Ilanna has played a crucial role in strengthening Safaricom's position as a stock of choice among the international investment community.

Under her leadership, Safaricom's shares have seen significant growth, increasing from Sh18.57 at the time she joined in 2017 to Sh28.9 at present.

Ilanna is a graduate of University College Dublin and has previously worked as the CFO of Digicel Group in South East Asia.

Announcing the appointment, Safaricom chief executive Peter Ndegwa said Ilanna would be responsible for the overall financial planning, management, and oversight of the organisation.

Ilanna's appointment comes at a time when Safaricom is experiencing significant growth, with its net profit for the full year ending March 2020 jumping 19.54 per cent to Sh74.7 billion.
