COVID-19 Cases Surge in Kenya ¶
As of June 30, 2020, Kenya has reported a significant surge in COVID-19 cases, with 6,366 new infections confirmed in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr. Rashid Aman, the Acting Health Secretary, all the new cases are from the West Kenya region, with 100 males and 76 females affected.
The youngest patient is 3 years old, while the oldest is 78 years old.
The new cases are distributed across various counties, including Nairobi (99 cases), Mombasa (20 cases), Kiambu (17 cases), Migori (13 cases), Uasin Gishu (10 cases), Kajiado (4 cases), Busia (4 cases), Kilifi (3 cases), Machakos (2 cases), Narok (1 case), Kakamega (1 case), and Kisumu (1 case).
As of June 30, 2020, a total of 169,836 samples have been tested since the first case was reported in March.
Dr. Aman also announced that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased to 148, following the deaths of four more patients.
However, 26 patients have recovered and been discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,039.
