On June 29, 2020, Faith Muthoni, 45, and Purity Wambogo, 42, appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Tony Kwambai in Embu, Kenya, and pleaded guilty to trespassing into a farm at Kathangari Village in Embu.
The two women were charged with trespassing into the Frankenstein farm, where they picked black-jack without the owner's permission.
According to the prosecution, the two women were found in possession of black-jack, which they had picked from the farm to feed their rabbits.
However, in their defence, the two women told the court that they only picked the black-jack to feed their starving rabbits.
They were found in act by a farm manager, who then reported the matter to the Manyatta police station.
As a result, the two women were arrested and arraigned in court, where they pleaded for leniency from the court.
Senior Resident Magistrate Tony Kwambai ordered that the two women serve two-month non-custodial sentences and warned them to stay out of trouble lest they finish the sentences in jail.
