Former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno has tested positive for coronavirus, but is now stable and recovering.
According to reports, Otieno developed a fever last week and was rushed to hospital on Friday after complaining of breathing difficulties.
As a philanthropist, Otieno has been involved in various charity events, including distributing foodstuff to vulnerable families in Nairobi's Maringo Estate through his Kick off to Hope organisation.
Over 600 families in the area have benefited from his project, which was initiated before the COVID-19 lockdown.
During his playing days, Otieno featured for AFC Leopards and Tusker FC before joining South Africa's Santos FC in 2011.
He later became an assistant coach of Harambee Stars under Bobby Williamson and Stanley Okumbi.
Football players and clubs took to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, with Harambee Stars tweeting, 'Our legend and former captain Musa Otieno recieved a positive Covid-19 result. Join us in wishing him a quick recovery.'
Other notable figures, including Nick Mwendwa and the National Olympic Committee – Kenya, also extended their well-wishes to Otieno.
