On June 30, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Milimani Law Courts as a young woman, Mary Kwamboka Onyancha, accused a Supreme Court judge of siring and neglecting their 6-year-old daughter.

According to court documents, Kwamboka met the judge in 2013 at a church, and their brief affair in 2013 and 2014 resulted in the birth of their daughter on April 21, 2014.

Kwamboka claims that after the birth, she requested the judge for child support, but he refused and denied paternity of the minor.

The plaintiff alleges that the judge, who was a lower court judge at the time, 'frustrated all efforts by the plaintiff to reach out to him for child support.'

As a result, Kwamboka has yet to receive any child support from the judge, despite his alleged means as a Supreme Court judge.

She is now seeking a monthly support of Ksh161, 600, broken down into Ksh20, 000 for food, Ksh5, 000 for clothes, Ksh45, 000 for house rent, Ksh41, 600 for school fees, Ksh20, 000 for medical expenses, Ksh10, 000 for a house-help, and Ksh20, 000 for the child's entertainment.

The woman also wants the court to declare her the sole custodian of the child.
