On June 29, 2020, a group of angry youth disrupted an event held by Kesses MP Mishra Kiprop in his constituency. The event was meant to distribute bursaries to schools, with some of the schools planning to use the funds to purchase buses.

However, the youth, who were reportedly hired by Deputy President William Ruto's men, stormed the event, holding placards that read 'Respect the Deputy President.' They also chanted songs calling for Mishra to stop being a member of Parliament, claiming that this would bring an end to impunity in the area.

The youth further condemned Mishra's decision to sign a petition that ousted Aden Duale as the majority leader, alleging that he was coerced into doing so. Mishra, however, maintained that he was following President Uhuru's orders.

According to Mishra, signing the petition would help solidify and unite Parliament, the government, and the Jubilee party. He stated, 'I have signed myself because that is what my party wants. I have no idea whether he (Duale) will be removed or not. At the end of the day, it is the President who is the party leader.'

At the time of signing the petition, Moses Kuria also questioned whether Kesses and Kieni residents agreed with their leaders. He asked, 'Hon Kanini Kega (Kieni) and Hon Mishra (Kesses) have collected signatures to remove Aden Duale as Majority Leader. Kieni & Kesses people, have you sanctioned this?'
