On June 29, 2020, Health Chief Administrative Rashid Aman announced that 120 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in Kenya, out of 2,221 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
According to Dr. Aman, 42 people have been discharged from various hospitals after full recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,013.
Unfortunately, one more patient succumbed to the virus, taking the national death toll from the virus to 144.
Of the 120 new cases, 115 are Kenyans while five are foreigners. The cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (67), Mombasa (17), Kajiado (9), Machakos (9), Kiambu (8), Uasin Gishu (4), Nakuru (2), Kilifi (2), and Narok (2).
Dr. Aman emphasized that while the COVID-19 pandemic is a significant health crisis, Kenya's resilience and 'never say die' spirit will help the country overcome it.
He also noted that Busia has become a hotspot due to truckers crossing the borders, and warned that it's only a matter of time before all counties record COVID-19 cases.
