Former President Mwai Kibaki's health has been the subject of speculation in recent days, with some reports suggesting that he has been hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital for an extended period.

However, Kibaki's Private Secretary Ngari Gituku has come out to deny these claims, stating that the former Head of State only visited the hospital for a routine check-up.

Speaking to a local daily, Gituku said, 'I am reading some quarters saying that he has been in the hospital for ten days. That is far-fetched. It is completely hollow and far from the truth.'

Gituku emphasized that it is normal for individuals to visit the hospital for routine check-ups, and that Kibaki's visit was no exception.

He stated, '[It is normal and a routine thing for all of us to go to the hospital, and so is the case with His Excellency. We should not make it like it is abnormal. But on talk that he is admitted and has been there for ten days that is a gross exaggeration. He visited the hospital and went home.'

Gituku's comments are likely to put to rest the speculation surrounding Kibaki's health, and serve as a reminder that individuals' health is a private matter that should not be subject to public scrutiny.
