On February 10, 2018, Alex Olaba and Frank Wanyama, two Kenya Harlequin FC players, allegedly raped a female musician at Seefar Apartments in Highrise, Nairobi, on her birthday.

After a guilty verdict, the duo was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but their fate has now taken a dramatic turn.

On June 30, 2020, Justice Ngenye Macharia ordered a retrial, citing a lack of evidence that a key witness was sworn in during the original trial.

The High Court judge has quashed the 15-year jail term, paving the way for a new trial.

Olaba and Wanyama's case has sparked widespread attention, with many calling for justice to be served.
