On June 30, 2020, Celestine Ndinda, the wife of comedian Njugush, opened up about her initial disappointment after finding out she was four months pregnant just after their wedding.
The couple tied the knot in December 2016 and had planned to enjoy a one-year honeymoon before starting a family.
However, their plans were disrupted when Ndinda discovered she was pregnant, and she was not happy about it.
‘I had given myself a one year honeymoon before I gave birth. We got married in December 2016 and we did not have a job,’ Ndinda said.
At the time, Njugush had told his wife to quit her job, which paid her KES 15,000 per month, saying the salary would only buy her two pairs of shoes and nothing else.
‘After our wedding we moved to a two-bedroom house but we still did not have a job, I had told my wife to leave her 15K job. During our honeymoon we would eat in vibandas, we were so broke,’ Njugush said.
But their fortunes changed in June 2017 when they landed a job with Bountiful Safaris, and they were able to start a new life.
‘In June 2017 we got a job with bountiful safaris. We were to go to Mombasa and that’s when I was expecting my monthly period. What we did not know was that we were already pregnant with Tugi,’ Ndinda said.
When asked why he did not withdraw like he always did before, Njugush said, ‘Dereva alisahau kushukisha, saa zingine safari inakua poa unasahau na stories zingine.’
Ndinda was quick to add that although babies are a blessing, she was disappointed at the time because they had just been together for four months.
‘Ulinibore sana, I was very disappointed. Madame tunatakaga tukule life kwanza tukitoka kwa our mum,’ Ndinda said.
Despite the initial disappointment, the couple has overcome the incident and are happy parents to a son, Tugi, who is as humorous as his dad.
