Former Harambee Stars Captain Hospitalized with COVID-19

Former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno has been hospitalized with COVID-19 at Mbagathi Hospital, according to a friend who wished to remain anonymous.

Otieno, a former Harambee Stars captain, has been hospitalized with COVID-19 at Mbagathi Hospital, according to a friend who wished to remain anonymous.

The former Harambee Stars captain was diagnosed with COVID-19 after showing symptoms of high fever and weakness, according to Athanas Obango, the chairman of the Kenya Footballers Association (KAFF).

"Musa was put on a ventilator to help him breathe and later was transferred to ward 7. Several tests were conducted, including COVID-19. I have been in touch with the family and doctors and I want to assure the football fraternity that our captain is receiving the best care and treatment," Obango said.

Otieno played for Harambee Stars from 1993 to 2005 and represented Kenya 105 times. He was part of the team that participated in the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia and also played for AFC Leopards and Tusker FC.

He later joined Santos in South Africa where he played for 14 years before retiring from football in 2011 and venturing into coaching.

Otieno has coached several teams including FC Talanta and Harambee Stars, where he served as an assistant coach under Stanley Okumbi. He was later moved to the Harambee Starlets team where he served for a short period.

The Kenya Footballers Association (KAFF) has expressed its support for Otieno and has wished him a speedy recovery.
