On 30 June 2020, DJ Evolve, whose real name is Felix Orinda, spoke to NTV for the first time since a shooting incident involving Embakasi South MP Babu Owino at a local bar in Nairobi.
Orinda, who was left immobile and traumatized by the incident, revealed that he has been taking medication to help him sleep and has been experiencing flashbacks from that day.
"I have needed medication to help me sleep, I have had flashbacks from that day and it is traumatizing," he said.
Orinda's family has also spoken out about the incident, with his mum stating that they have not heard from the Embakasi MP despite reports of an out-of-court settlement.
"I saw reports on the newspapers that I had talked to Babu, those are lies because I have not spoken to anyone, this incident left me devastated and I only speak to God," Orinda's mum said.
The incident occurred at the popular B Club in Kilimani estate, Nairobi, where Owino allegedly shot DJ Evolve in the neck after an argument.
Police say the lawmaker argued with the DJ before he drew his gun and shot him, and questions abound as to why the MP was allowed into the club with a firearm.
