Former Taita Taveta Women Representative Joyce Lay has embarked on a new journey in the music industry, marking a significant departure from her previous career in politics.
According to her social media posts, Lay's decision to pursue music came after a 47-year journey of self-discovery, which she attributes to her deepening spiritual relationship with God.
She revealed that her spiritual journey began in 2018, when she started reading the Bible more and spending time in prayer, seeking a deeper understanding of God's plan for her life.
After relocating to the United States in 2017, Lay found inspiration for her music, including her first hit song 'Najua Wewe Ni Bwana', which she launched on her birthday, June 29.
She shared her story, saying, 'It took 47 years to know what God Has assigned me to do. This is because I wasn’t keen to allow Him to guide me. In 2018 I started on a deep spiritual journey. To know God more than what a preacher said. I wanted to have a deeper relationship and a wider understanding of who God is and why He created me. I started reading His word more and spending time in prayer. God is faithful.'
Her music career has taken off, with her first song 'Najua Wewe Ni Bwana' available on YouTube.
