On June 30, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded in Nambale town, Busia County, as police intervened to save a woman from a mob that had gathered outside her house.
The woman's house had become the scene of a tragic event the previous night, when a man was stabbed to death in a suspected love triangle.
According to the woman's landlord, James Ndung'u, the deceased had been found in the woman's rented house by another man, leading to a loud quarrel that ensued.
Mr. Ndung'u revealed that he had heard the two men fighting at night but had not intervened, assuming they were police officers handling local drunkards.
However, in the morning, an angry crowd had gathered outside the woman's house, demanding that she be lynched. Police officers were forced to intervene to prevent a tragic outcome.
