On June 19, 2020, tragedy struck in Nduga village, Rachuonyo South sub-county, Homa Bay County, when 11-year-old Noel Adhiambo was killed in a fight over a grazing field.

According to reports, Adhiambo, a pupil at Kosele Community Christian Centre, was attacked by two boys who accused her and her sister of grazing their cattle on a piece of land that did not belong to their parents.

The argument escalated into physical fighting, with the boys using wooden rods and stones to attack the girls. Adhiambo's body was found in a maize plantation three days later.

Police in Homa Bay arrested and detained a 15-year-old boy, a Form One student, in connection with Adhiambo's murder. The boy was arrested on Sunday evening after evidence linked him directly to the death of the minor.

Adhiambo's mother, Christine Awino, suspects that her daughter was killed by two boys, including the one arrested.
