On June 30, 2020, Realtor King's Developers Ltd, an affiliate of Royal Group of Companies, announced plans to construct 720 residential apartments in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
The project, which will consist of 10 blocks with two-bedroom units, is expected to be completed by December 2021, with unit prices starting from Sh3.2 million.
According to Vinayak Karambalkar, sales and marketing vice president, the project aims to capitalize on the growing demand for residential units in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, outside the city.
Ongata Rongai is a suburb that boasts learning institutions such as the Multimedia University and the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies, as well as commercial centers like the Galleria and Maasai Centre.
According to the National Construction Authority (NCA), Kajiado County had the second-highest number of project submissions in the 2018/19 fiscal year, with 572 applications.
