Manchester United's Angel Gomes is on the cusp of departing the Old Trafford club, with his contract set to expire at the end of June.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been unable to secure a new deal with the Red Devils, despite being offered a contract extension.

According to reports, Gomes and his representatives were unable to agree on the terms of a new contract, leading to his expected departure on a free transfer.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had previously expressed hope that Gomes would accept the new terms, but in a recent interview, he seemed to have changed his tune.

When asked if Gomes would be staying at Old Trafford, Solskjaer replied, “I’ve got no news, nothing, so it doesn't look like it.”

Pushed further on the matter, Solskjaer added, “I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes, then.”

Gomes made his debut for Manchester United during the 2016/2017 season, coming off the bench against Crystal Palace in Jose Mourinho’s final game for the club.

Since then, he has struggled to break into the starting line-up, making only three European League appearances and being left out of United’s recent games due to the pandemic.
