President John Pombe Magufuli has taken swift action against a district commissioner accused of misconduct, including harassment of female colleagues.
On June 28, 2020, Mwapamba, the former head of the Kisarawe district administration, was relieved of his duties and replaced by Mwanana Msumi.
According to a video circulating online, Magufuli stated that he would not tolerate leaders who lack integrity in his government, but rather those who discharge their duties effectively.
"I have heard that one of my employees has lost his moral compass, there are allegations that he has been harassing female colleagues, I had previously warned him but he did not take heed, now I am replacing him with another leader who will run the office properly," Magufuli said.
Magufuli briefly questioned Mwanana Msumi before instructing him to take up the new role, while also advising Mwapamba to look for a lower-level position.
