NSE Turnover Declines 28% to KSh 253 Million

On Monday, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a notable decline in trading activity, with a total of 8.54 million shares changing hands in 971 deals, valued at KSh 253.25 million.

The top movers of the day included Safaricom, with 3.34 million shares traded, followed by Equity, KPLC, KCB, and Home Afrika.

Kenya Airways emerged as the top gainer, with a 9.93% increase in its share price, closing at KSh 2.99. The company's investors exchanged 171,300 shares in 25 deals.

Other notable gainers included Flame Tree Group Holdings, which gained 5.63% to close at KSh 1.50, and Home Afrika, which rose by 4.88% to KSh 0.43 per share, with a turnover of KSh 182,564 in 9 deals.

Sameer Africa Plc also gained 3.33% to close at KSh 3.41, with 22,100 shares exchanged in 7 deals. WPP ScanGroup added 2.48% to its value, closing at KSh 16.50, with 10,100 shares traded.

However, some stocks experienced significant declines, including TPS Eastern Africa, which shed 10.00% of its share price value, closing at KSh 14.40, and Total Kenya Ltd, which depreciated by 9.39% to KSh 24.60, with a turnover of KSh 280,395.

The NSE all-share Index gained 1.04 points to close at 138.79, while the NSE 20-share index rose by 13.64 points to 1952.26, and the NSE 25-share index increased by 15.61 points to 3246.93.
