Joseph Chege Gikonyo, a manager at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and his wife Lucy Kangai Stephen are the latest targets of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of unexplained wealth and tax evasion.

According to the EACC, the couple, who are directors of Giche Limited, accumulated unexplained assets worth Sh597,457,059 between 2010 and 2015. The company also failed to pay taxes to KRA, amounting to Sh38,629,694.

Despite working for the tax body, the couple managed to evade tax. They were arrested on completion of the investigation and will be arraigned in court on June 30, 2020, to take plea.
