Kenya's COVID-19 Cases Rise to 6,190

On June 29, 2020, Kenya's Health Ministry Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman announced a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 6,190.

The new cases were confirmed after 2,221 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

According to Dr. Aman, the majority of the new cases are concentrated in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Busia, with the latter being third due to its border points.

Dr. Aman stated, "It's only a matter of time before all counties report cases," highlighting the widespread nature of the pandemic.

Out of the 120 new cases, 115 are Kenyans, while five are foreign nationals.

The distribution of the new cases is as follows:

  • Nairobi: 67
  • Mombasa: 17
  • Kajiado: 9
  • Machakos: 9
  • Kiambu: 8
  • Uasin Gishu: 6
  • Nakuru: 2
  • Narok: 2

Furthermore, 84 of the new patients are males, while 36 are females.

Tragically, one more person succumbed to the respiratory disease, raising the number of fatalities to 144.

Dr. Aman revealed that the deceased was a 64-year-old patient from Mombasa who was diabetic.

On a positive note, 42 more people have recovered from the deadly disease and have been discharged from various health facilities across the country.
