Kenya's COVID-19 cases have continued to rise, with 278 new patients testing positive for the disease over the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases to 5,811, as reported by Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi on Saturday.
According to Dr. Mwangangi, the new cases are composed of 276 Kenyans and two foreign nationals. The patients include 181 males and 97 females, aged between one and 84 years.
The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of infections at 171. The areas with the highest number of cases in Nairobi include Westlands, Lang'ata, and Dagoretti North.
Dr. Mwangangi also announced that 31 patients were discharged from various health facilities across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,936. Unfortunately, four patients succumbed to the disease, taking the total number of fatalities to 141.
