June 29, 2020 - The government has launched a crackdown on individuals who benefited from the National Cereal and Produce Board (NCPB) maize scandal, with flamboyant City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, popularly known as Grand Mullar, being one of the main targets.
According to sources, Ahmednasir and his business partners are panicking after claims that Kenya's Asset Recovery Agency has started tracking down and auditing some of his properties to recover the Ksh40 million he allegedly pocketed through his law firm, Ahmednasir and Abdikadir and Company Advocates.
The agency is working closely with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to track down and confiscate properties linked to all the beneficiaries of the illegal payments made by Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke and his co-accused Grace Wakhungu.
It has been reported that Ahmednasir organised a team of advocates to obtain advance orders blocking the Asset Recovery Agency from binding any of his properties, which include high-end cars, multi-storey buildings, and several affluent residences in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Garissa.
Reports also indicate that Ahmednasir was keenly influencing things in the background through the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi.
