Charles Njagua Kanyi, popularly known as Jaguar, the Starehe Member of Parliament, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in provoking traders at the Mwariro market in Nairobi.

According to reports, the incident occurred on June 29, 2020, when police officers arrested Jaguar around mid-morning for unclear circumstances.

It is alleged that the legislator incited youths to forcibly occupy stalls at Mwariro market, leading to his arrest at the Nairobi Area.

When questioned about the arrest, Jaguar stated that he did not understand the reasons behind his detention but suspected that the Mwariro market saga was the cause.

He further declared that despite his current freedom status, he would continue to fight for his constituents, emphasizing that leadership requires service and resilience.

As he tweeted, 'I’m currently at Nairobi Area. The charges against me are unclear though they seem connected to Mwariro Market. I’ll keep fighting for my constituents. Being a leader is tough but my resolve remains unshaken. Allocations at Mwariro Market have to be fair.'
