On June 29, 2020, the Kenyan Parliament faced a crisis as multiple legislators tested positive for COVID-19, sparking fears of a larger outbreak.
According to reports, six lawmakers were admitted to various hospitals in Nairobi, with one in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
As the situation unfolded, many other legislators who had come into contact with their positive colleagues rushed to get tested, raising concerns that the number of positive cases could rise significantly.
Given the recent political activities, including a meeting between President Uhuru and over 100 MPs of the Jubilee Coalition, the actual number of infected MPs could be much higher than initially estimated.
