Timothy Kemei, a 32-year-old journalist and dedicated civil servant, passed away on June 27, 2020, after being rushed to Siloam Hospital in Kericho County due to breathing difficulties caused by his long-standing asthma.
According to a statement from Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony, efforts to resuscitate Kemei failed, and he was mourned as an astute and diligent civil servant.
As a journalist, Kemei worked for Nation Media Group in Nairobi and later in Nakuru County, covering various stories and events. He was remembered by his colleagues as a great journalist and committed media professional who executed his duties to the best of his abilities.
"Kemei developed breathing problems last night occasioned by his long history and struggle with Asthma. Timothy was an astute and diligent civil servant and a strong pillar in my administration," Chepkwony's statement read in part.
He is survived by his widow, Mercy, and a 2-year-old son. Kemei graduated with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Egerton University in 2011.
