On June 29, 2020, Startup Circles, a new African online accelerator and startup school, launched to support entrepreneurs across the continent in building and growing successful businesses.
Founded by CEO Sandras Phiri, Startup Circles aims to connect African startups with quality mentorship and advice, as well as investment opportunities, to drive economic recovery and growth.
Based in South Africa, the platform is accessible to entrepreneurs anywhere in Africa, regardless of their location. Phiri emphasized the importance of mentorship, stating, "Most importantly, our students gain mentorship and guidance from leading mentors and experts from around the world whom they otherwise would never have access to."
Startup Circles has partnered with global investors to provide entrepreneurs with investment and honest feedback. The platform also offers a community of like-minded game changers, monthly live webinars, member-only meetups, and $10,000 in AWS cloud credits.
The online accelerator and startup school is currently running four programmes for startups at various stages, including the Idea Phase 1, Startup Launch Programme, Investor Readiness Programme, and SMB Accelerate Programme.
