On June 29, 2020, a report by a local daily revealed that six Members of Parliament were in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
According to an anonymous MP, one of the legislators was under intensive care at a Nairobi hospital, having reportedly infected a colleague who visited him.
Two other infected lawmakers were from the Coast and Western regions, with one serving his first term.
"I know at least six MPs have so far turned positive and are in hospitals, one is in ICU," an insider revealed.
As a result, MPs who interacted with the sick lawmakers were in a state of panic, awaiting their test results.
However, National Assembly Clerk Michael Sialai stated that medical records were private, and he would only be informed if the MPs disclosed their status.
The latest reports highlighted CS Kagwe's warning that Covid-19 could infect anyone, amidst concerns over politicians flouting containment rules.
