On Monday morning, Nairobi police arrested four individuals, including two men who were armed with a pistol and knife, in connection with a dramatic robbery that was captured on video and went viral on social media.

The footage showed the two men confronting a pedestrian and pointing a pistol and knife at him before grabbing a bag containing a laptop and valuables from his pockets.

According to Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo, the four suspects were arrested in their hideout in Pangani, where they had escaped from Kawangware and Gatina. The officers recovered the stolen laptop, a knife, and some of the clothes the men were wearing during the robbery.

Police are now encouraging tenants and landlords to install CCTV cameras on their premises as part of efforts to address crime. Incidents of robberies have been on the decline in the past five months in the city, partially due to the lockdown in parts of the city.

Meanwhile, more than 100 cases of defilement have been recorded in Nairobi region since January this year, with a total of 129 cases reported. Police authorities said the trend shows a decrease in cases, albeit in a small margin.

Police are urging parents to be keen on their children and report any incidents to the authorities for help and action. They have also enhanced operations and will take stern action against those reported to the authorities.
