On May 29, 2020, Jambojet expressed interest in varying its licence to enter the cargo business, as per a gazette notice.

The airline, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, has been operating since 2014 and is headquartered in Nairobi.

Early this month, Jambojet filed a request with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to fly more domestic and international routes.

According to the filing, the airline plans to operate an additional hub at Mombasa's Moi International Airport (MIA), where it will operate nine new local routes and 12 international routes.

These new routes include direct flights from Mombasa to Kisumu and from Kisumu to Eldoret, Malindi, and Lamu.
