On June 29, 2020, a daring daylight robbery incident shook the streets of Lenana Road. Fortunately, DCI detectives in Kilimani were hot on the heels of the perpetrators, and their efforts paid off with the arrest of four suspects.
The suspects, aged between 23 and 27 years, were identified as Timothy Jahan Muzami alias 'Timo', Humphrey Minyata alias 'Daddy', Mary Wambui, and Ali Musa alias 'Ally'. They were arrested at their hideouts in Kawangware, Gatina, and Pangani.
According to the DCI, the suspects were involved in a robbery incident that was caught on CCTV. The footage showed one of the thugs wielding a knife, while another struck the victim on the head with the butt of a pistol. The suspects then frisked the victim, took his mobile phone and backpack, and disappeared into an alleyway.
During the operation, detectives recovered a pocket knife, a jacket, a pair of camouflage sneakers, a smartphone believed to have been stolen, and a MacBook laptop.
The early morning robbery sparked outrage on social media, with Kenyans calling on the DCI to expedite investigations and bring the thugs to book.
