Former President Mwai Kibaki has been hospitalized in Nairobi for severe lower abdominal pain, according to his doctors. He was admitted on June 19th.
Although the former president has lived a quiet life away from the limelight, his hospitalization has raised some eyebrows. However, his aides have downplayed the situation, stating that it is a routine visit for scheduled check-ups.
"It is a normal visit and there is nothing new. He goes there more often for scheduled check-ups be it once in a month or even twice. So no [cause for] alarm," said one of the former president's aides.
It's worth noting that this is not the first time Mwai Kibaki has been in the news recently. He was also spotted at Mzee Moi's body viewing at Parliament Buildings, where he was ushered in after journalists were kicked out.
