On June 25, 2020, a brazen robbery took place along Lenana Road in Nairobi, leaving a pedestrian shaken. The incident was captured on CCTV and quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage and calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
Fast forward to Monday, June 29, 2020, when the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that they had arrested the two suspects involved in the robbery. The suspects, identified as Timothy Jahan Muzami alias Timo and Humphrey Minyata alias Daddy, were caught alongside a woman believed to be Timo's wife and another accomplice.
According to the DCI, the suspects were arrested in Pangani after a thorough investigation that led police to Kawangware and Gatina. The officers recovered a stolen laptop, a knife, and some of the clothes the men were wearing during the crime.
Police boss Philip Ndolo commended the public for their assistance in identifying the suspects and vowed to continue the hunt for other accomplices. 'We will not relent until all accomplices are caught and we thank all those who helped to get them,' Ndolo said.
The incident highlights the need for increased security measures, particularly in residential areas. Police are now encouraging tenants and landlords to install CCTV cameras on their premises to help prevent and solve crimes.
