On June 29, 2020, Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina appeared in court to face ethnic contempt charges. The case against him was not terminated as he had hoped.

Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku released the Senator on a cash bail of Sh100,000, ordering him to appear in court again on July 31 for pre-trial directions.

Ms Mutuku stated that the charge sheet drafted by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) discloses an offence, and the Senator will be supplied with evidence to support the allegations against him.

He will have the opportunity to challenge the evidence through cross-examination.

Senator ole Kina denied uttering words on February 19, during a televised interview, which were intended to incite feelings of discrimination against non-Maasai communities living in Narok County.
