On June 28, 2020, the FA Cup made its return after a three-month hiatus, with eight clubs competing in the fifth-round ties to reach the last four.

Among the winners were Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, who defeated Sheffield United, Leicester City, and Norwich City, respectively.

Chelsea secured their spot in the semi-finals with a win over Leicester City, thanks in part to a late substitute appearance by Ross Barkley.

Manchester United also advanced to the semi-finals, with Harry Maguire scoring the winning goal in extra time against Norwich City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield United, courtesy of a stoppage-time winner by Dani Ceballos, secured their place in the semi-finals.

As the FA Cup semi-final draw took place at St James' Park, Newcastle United and Manchester City were set to face off in the final semi-final spot, with the draw scheduled to take place at the midway stage of the tie.
