On Sunday, June 28, 2020, police officers in Kirinyaga County made a significant arrest in a gruesome murder case.

A 35-year-old man, suspected of killing his 28-year-old girlfriend, was apprehended by detectives from his hideout in Wanguru town.

According to Kirinyaga Central Sub County Police Commander Doreen Oduor, the suspect was taken into custody after a thorough investigation.

During interrogations, the suspect admitted to the killing but refused to disclose the motive behind the heinous crime.

Ms. Oduor stated that the suspect appeared calm and unresponsive but cooperated with the police.

The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday, June 29, pending a murder charge.

Police are also investigating claims that the suspect may have killed more women in his compound and buried them there.

On Friday, June 26, 2020, the victim's body was exhumed by police after obtaining a court order.

Her dismembered body was exhumed in an emotionally charged exercise overseen by Ms. Oduor, Kirinyaga Sub County Commissioner Daniel Ndege, and top medical doctors from Kerugoya Referral Hospital.

According to Mr. Ndege, the body had been cut into pieces, the stomach opened, and the intestines removed before it was set on fire.
