According to Kirinyaga Central Sub County Police Commander Doreen Oduor, detectives had been investigating the murder since it was reported, and had obtained a court order to exhume the body.
Ms. Oduor said that the victim's body had been cut into pieces, her stomach opened, and her intestines removed before being set on fire, with the suspect allegedly burning the naked body with a tyre.
On June 28, 2020, the suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested from his hideout in Wanguru town by detectives who had been tracking him.
During interrogations, the suspect admitted to the killing but refused to reveal why he committed the crime, with Ms. Oduor stating that he appeared calm and unresponsive but cooperated with the police.
The suspect will be arraigned on June 29, 2020, pending a murder charge, with Ms. Oduor requesting the court to grant them more time to complete their investigations.
