British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to announce a massive spending plan to revive the country's economy, which has been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to media reports and government ministers, Johnson will pledge billions of pounds for infrastructure projects, including new roads, schools, and hospitals, in a bid to 'build our way back to health.'
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Johnson said: 'This has been a huge, huge shock to the country but we're going to bounce back very well.'
Johnson's administration is under intense pressure following criticism of its handling of the pandemic, which has resulted in over 43,000 deaths in the UK, the worst toll in Europe.
The government is also facing criticism over its Brexit plans, with fears that the UK may leave the European Union without a deal.
On July 4, England will reopen pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, museums, and cinemas, which have been closed since the end of March.
Support for Johnson has collapsed in recent weeks, with a poll showing that new Labour leader Keir Starmer has overtaken him as the preferred prime minister.
